Little Talent Required

So you're not a designer or writer. To fit well into the SGS blueprint toward self-sufficiency, all you need is a desire to try something new and the stamina to stretch your current capabilities. We would love to teach you basic layout techniques, proven writing styles and important communication strategies. Once we've crafted a new voice and look that suits you, then we provide you the tools to keep your publications fresh and relevant.

Simple Applications

Design formats are simplified, because we use software and hardware that you already know. Our graphic artists and copywriters will take you to the next level effortlessly. At SGS DESIGN AND MORE, we walk you step by step, so that you feel comfortable throughout the entire process. Although expertise doesn't happen overnight, when we hand you the reigns, you'll feel like you breezed right past the tutorial curve.

Repetition and Computers

Once something has been typed into a computer (by you or anyone else), it should never need to be rekeyed. This includes text blocks, phone numbers, spreadsheet cell formulas, passwords, even web addresses. Retyping information not only wastes time — it's also totally unnecessary.

Three simple shortcuts will save you multitudes of seconds and minutes, which eventually add up to hours and days. Memorize these quick commands, and you'll employ them again and again in just about every software application you use. All three shortcuts require that you hold down the CONTROL (CTRL) key and combine it with a letter on the bottom row of your keyboard.

Shortcut Keys - Cut 'n Paste

First, highlight with your mouse the selection you want to delete, copy or move. This can be done virtually anywhere on the text or command portions your screen. CTRL+X and CTRL+C both copy your selection onto your computer's clipboard, where temporary information is stored. CONTROL plus the letter "X", however, deletes your choice, while CONTROL plus the letter "C" simply copies it.

Next, put your cursor where you want to enter your highlighted information. The CONTROL key plus the letter "V" (CTRL+V) will paste it into your new location. You can repeat this CTRL+V step a thousand times, if necessary, until you either replace the entry on your clipboard with something else, or you logout or shutdown.

Ooops, Let's Try That Again

Suppose you accidentally deleted something you needed, added the text in the wrong place, or shouldn't have added it at all? Piece of cake! CONTROL plus the letter "Z" (CTRL+Z) will undo the previous operation. Tap CTRL+Z again, and you'll undo the step before that.

Four neglected keys all listed together – Z X C V – give you a tremedous amount of power. Start using them today, and you'll wonder what you ever did without them.
